Structure, accountability and respect

Residential House Rules

A structured living environment helps residents build dependable routines, respect others, strengthen personal responsibility and prepare for successful community life.

Public overview: These rules summarize the program's residential expectations. Each resident receives the current official rules, policies and required agreements during the intake process.

Program Participation and Daily Structure

Residents agree to participate in the program's daily schedule, spiritual development, work assignments and shared household responsibilities.

  1. Residents may leave the home only with prior approval from program staff.
  2. Outside communication is restricted during the first 30 days. After that period, approved family calls, visits and passes are scheduled through staff according to program progress and individual needs.
  3. Church attendance and participation are essential parts of the program.
  4. Questions and requests follow the program's chain of responsibility: first the House Manager, then the Program Overseer.
  5. Daily work assignments are to be completed faithfully. Regular program work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise directed.
  6. Residents complete assigned household chores promptly after breakfast.
  7. Lights-out is 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, unless staff approves otherwise.
  8. Store trips, passes and similar activities are privileges granted at the discretion of program staff.

Safety, Sobriety and Conduct

The safety of residents, staff and the community is a primary program responsibility.

  1. Illegal drugs, alcohol, weapons, prohibited paraphernalia and gang-related displays are not permitted.
  2. Residents must submit to approved random drug testing. Refusal may be grounds for dismissal.
  3. Fighting, threats of violence, theft and other conduct that endangers residents or staff may result in immediate dismissal and contact with emergency services.
  4. Profanity, hostile speech, backbiting, horseplay and inappropriate physical contact are not permitted.
  5. Residents may not use another resident's belongings or clothing without permission. Property loans require approval from the House Manager.
  6. Residents may not enter another resident's room or an area designated as private without prior approval.
  7. Smoking and vaping are governed by the current restricted-smoking policy and are permitted only in the designated area.

Household Standards

Shared living requires consideration, cleanliness and dependable personal routines.

  1. Residents are to be fully dressed, have beds made and complete room assignments before morning devotional. Shirts are required in all common areas.
  2. Residents dress modestly at the home and at church. Church clothing must meet program expectations.
  3. Food and drinks are kept in the kitchen and are not permitted in bedrooms or other common areas.
  4. Clothing and personal belongings must be stored neatly and may not be hung from beds.
  5. No more than $20 may be kept on a resident's person unless staff approves otherwise.
  6. Cell phones and social media may be used only with program approval.
  7. Residents are responsible for purchasing their food through available benefits or personal funds. Shopping is scheduled by the House Manager.
  8. Volunteer duties, work assignments, fundraisers and other tasks benefiting the ministry are part of program participation unless staff states otherwise.
